FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Philadelphia, PA – August 4, 2025 – Frank DiCicco Associates is proud to share that the official book launch for Walking a Tightrope Backward in High Heels, the highly anticipated memoir by former Philadelphia City Councilmember Blondell Reynolds Brown, will take place on Wednesday, September 17 at the Parkway Central Library of the Free Library of Philadelphia, located at 1901 Vine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103. This event is part of the Free Library Foundation’s acclaimed Author Events Series. Doors open at 6:15 PM; the program begins at 7:00 PM.
Part political memoir, part leadership guide, Walking a Tightrope Backward in High Heels is a candid and compelling account of Reynolds Brown’s extraordinary journey—from the halls of City Council to divorced mom, to the center of one of Philadelphia’s most high-stakes political dramas. Through triumphs and trials, she offers an authentic and unvarnished blueprint for navigating life’s toughest moments with courage, conviction—and yes, high heels.
The evening will feature a conversation between Reynolds Brown and Tamala Edwards, esteemed anchor and reporter at 6ABC, who will serve as moderator. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a copy of the memoir and have it signed by the author.
"Blondell Reynolds Brown’s book, Walking a Tightrope Backward in High Heels, is more than a memoir—it’s a blueprint for grace under pressure, a testament to the power of purpose, and a celebration of walking boldly through the world while wearing both legacy and heels."
— Marva Allen, CEO of Wordeee
"I have a testimony. My survival and re-election to a fifth term after the collision of a public devastating campaign crisis paired with my personal life accounts is a story of resilience, gumption, and faith."
— Blondell Reynolds Brown
Reynolds Brown reflects on her 20-year legacy as one of the city’s most influential lawmakers—breaking barriers for women, children, and families, while championing issues ranging from the arts and education to environmental justice and minority business inclusion.
